Churches that are struggling

This morning I went to the church I grew up going to. The church had a very minimal amount in Sunday school last week. This week is homecoming and I do not believe there is even 75 people here. I remember when I was a teenager there would be standing room only in the sanctuary.

Why is it that some churches are struggling and some are thriving? I think it has to do with the mentality of the church. Most churches that are thriving are adapting to their communities. They are not changing the message but the approach to delivering the message.

The churches that are thriving are also make multiplying disciples. They are very concerned with taking the message of salvation to the ends of the earth. They are also concerned with the lost souls in their communities.

When churches are thriving you see more people baptized. You see people’s lives changed. You see people on fire for God. You see people who are worshipping in church services.

Churches that are struggling are just the opposite. It is very easily seen. This is not God’s plan for his church.

Churches have to make a decision on how they will be. Do you want to be involved in a thriving or struggling church?
